Our Range
Contrary to believe, "toques" and
"beanies" aren't necessarily the same thing, both are hats bit...
A Beanie can be categorised as a Toque because it is usually a brimless ‘knitted’ hat
However, Toques are of a usually thicker and hardier to deal with the extreme elements of winter
Beanies are usually warn in winter but are light enough to wear through the autumn and spring months
While a Sloughy is a knitted hat, because of its louse and more casual design, it falls into its own category
Toque
Toque knitted caps are widely worn in Canada and parts of the US. They are generally thicker and more resilient to the cold and wet conditions found in the far north's seriously cold regions

Toque Rage
Aoraki Supports Ukraine
You can support Ukraine in the face of Russian military aggression. Aoraki will donate to Kiwi K.A.R.E for each Toque Shaka and Toque Shaka Combo purchased in support Ukraine
Beanie
The Beanie is universally recognized as a smaller close fitting knitted cap, that is either cuffed or uncuffed. Usually made of lighter weight yarns, Beanies can be worn year-round in many climates

Slouchy
The history of Slouchy hats can be traced back to a loose brim hat favored by the ANZACs. Over the decades popular culture has resulted in the well-known knitted hat with the distinctive loose material hanging down the back of the neck

Scarves
As everyone knows, a scarf is an indispensable article of clothing offering warmth, fashion panache, sun and air quality protection and cleanliness.
Natural yarns are valued for their resilience and soft comfort around the neck

Combo
Embrace winter warmth with a set of a Beanie, Slouchy or Toque paired with a matched Scarf
A Combo makes a great gift!

'The Bean'
Looking up at his grandad, Finn asked in a small voice, "Granddad, why is my hat called a beanie? "He continued, staring intently at the shiny button at the peak. "Is it because the button on top looks like a bean?".
His grandfather, who had never really thought about it, paused for a moment before replying, "Well, Finn, I don't really know. But since it looks like a bean, it's the size of a bean, and would make a good bean, except maybe not so good to eat,...let's call it 'The Bean'. Granddad continued walking.
Finn pondered this all for a moment, then turned his back to the wind and scampered after his granddad.
From that day fourth, the bright shiny button on the peak of an Aoraki beanie was known as 'The Bean'
(a true story)
