Welcome to Aoraki Clothing, where our passion for fashion meets the warmth of winter! Founded in 2023 by Craig and Caroline, we embarked on this journey after experiencing a series of life-changing moments that opened our eyes to the beauty of simplicity and the joy of creativity.
From our cozy premises in Auckland, we have created a space we lovingly call The Knit Room, where the magic of design comes to life, alongside our Office and Photo Studio At Aoraki, we believe that winter accessories should not only keep you warm but also elevate your style. We pour our hearts into every stitch, knowing that our creations will accompany you on countless adventures, from brisk walks in the park to cozy gatherings with loved ones. Through hard work and a fresh perspective, we have learned that happiness lies in embracing what we have and sharing it with others.
We invite you to join us on this exciting journey, where each product tells a story of warmth, style, and the beauty of connection. Together, let’s make the most of every moment, wrapped in the comfort of Aoraki. Aoraki uses premium materials, ensuring warmth, style and comfort. Our beanies and scarfs are made with the finest yarns sourced from New Zealand and around the globe.
Each yarn is carefully chosen for its softness, durability, and natural insulation properties. As an experienced knitwear designer with twenty plus years experience, Caroline understands the importance of quality and good design even for something as simple as a beanie or scarf '...there's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing'. Wear an Aoraki beanie and look good wherever you are. That's why we hand-make each piece with precision and care. Our small team of subcontractors and suppliers are skilled artisans bringing years of experience and expertise to every step, resulting in products that are not only fashionable but also long-lasting. We know that sending pieces to all points of the globe demands extra care and attention to detail. Whether you're exploring the snowy mountains 'Down South' or strolling through the city streets, Aoraki products are the perfect companions.
Aoraki provide optimal insulation, protecting you from the cold weather, while allowing your skin to breathe.
Aoraki believes in sustainable fashion. By choosing our hand-made knitwear, you're supporting local artisans and contributing to a more eco-friendly industry. We prioritize ethical practices and strive to minimize our environmental impact. Aoraki (Mount Cook) is located in the Southern Alps in the South Island and is the highest mountain in New Zealand. Aoraki is the name of a person in the mythology of the Ngāi Tahu (South Island Māori) tribe. The word is said to be a compound of ‘ao’ (“world, daytime, cloud”) and ‘raki’, a southern variant of ‘rangi’ ('day, sky, weather') thus the name could be interpreted as ‘cloud, sky mountain’ though modern interpretation has been widely romanticized
Aoraki is surrounded by twenty peaks exceeding heights of 3,000 metres, the permanently snow-clad mountain rises to 3,754 metres; a landslide in 1991 decreased the height of the peak by some 10 metres. Aoraki is flanked by Hooker Glacier to the west and Tasman Glacier to the east.
